Sloppy Cams

So I was just doing some research for a paper due on Wednesday when I realized that I haven't posted in a few days! Jeepers, I need to get my priorities straight here and stay on top of this blog!  Like almost all recipes, this one has a bit of a story too (don't worry I'll breif it).  So I was this mountain bike race in Squamish on sat evening and they were serving free chili (definitely not vegan or vegetarian).  Since it was a team endurance race, my teammate Anna and I took turns doing laps of the course.  It was getting dark and cold, and I was getting hungry...then on one of my off laps I caved.  I ate the chili.  The first time I've eaten meat in quite some time...I'll be honest too, it was delicious.  Am I back on meat now? No freaking way!! Anyways, the fact that I got it all over myself and was eating it with a big tasty roll reminded me of sloppy joes.  It has been ages since I've made them so I decided to cook some up!  This recipe though doesn't use any weird textured soy/veggie protein...just straight up beans and veggies!  I made them once but I found that they just weren't sloppy enough so I fixed it up before posting...I also didn't put ketchup into the first which was a critical mistake.  It is for totes one of the key ingredients that gives it that sloppy look and taste.  If you haven't tried it, look for this OrganicVille Ketchup sweetened with Agave...it's so good.

Ok, so here's what you need!

1 can of crushed tomatoes
1 can of black beans
1 onion  - chopped
3-4 carrots - chopped
1 green pepper - chopped
~1/4 - 1/3 cup Ketchup
~ 1-2 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
~ 1-2 tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar
~ 1 tbsp Cumin
Olive Oil
lots of pepper
sea salt
chili sauce (if you like a little heat!)

Super easy to make this.  Just fry the veggies together with the olive oil, then add the canned tomatoes and canned beans along with everything else and let it cook for for a bit, then simmer it until it starts to thicken a little bit.  I just cooked it until the carrots were just starting to get tender.  That's it.  Throw it on a bun, in a wrap, maybe even slap it on a bed of brown rice!  Go crazy, and get messy!

Since I'm going to U2 this Wednesday (omgOMG! <3!!) it seems right to post one of their songs.  But which one to choose??  This song has a really great music video, it's off their new album No Line On The Horizon.
U2 - I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Go Crazy Tonight

Take it easy!
